About

I'm an Assistant Research Professor of STEM Education at the University of Idaho, and I work to make math and science education better for all kids—especially those who learn differently. My research focuses on creating better ways to understand how students actually think and reason, not just whether they got the right answer. I love collaborating with teachers, researchers from different fields, and community organizations to build assessment and teaching tools that are both scientifically solid and genuinely helpful in real classrooms. A big part of my work focuses on supporting rural educators and making sure that STEM education research doesn't just stay in academic journals—it should actually benefit schools and communities where it matters most.
